Why are GKE Educators trained differently?
Edwin Schlossberg, author of Interactive Excellence has a Ph.D. in both science and literature from Columbia University. He designed one of America's first interactive museums, the Brooklyn Children's Museum. Schlossberg asserts ". . . to change how we think, we must look from a new perspective."

The GKE program of training supports the deployment of innovative, student-empowering teaching methodologies. Application of Schlossberg's "new perspective" in GKE Educators is student-focused: the active empowerment of students as innovators and decision-makers within their own learning processes.
What can best assist our students for productive experiences and successful careers in the new millennium? The critical readiness skill is the ability to innovate.
Tomorrow's required ability of creative innovation involves multitasking in a cooperative environment as well as analytical flexibility. Yet education, historically, has been a fixed answer institution; we need to break through stiff barriers and actively teach how to innovate.

Tomorrow's tasks will be collaborative and complex; they will require that thinkers recognize multiple ways of attacking complex problems and new modes of addressing changing problems. Today's learner, tomorrow's worker, has to explore different approaches and still come to recognizable achievement and completion.

GKE training is designed to teach innovation that can be facilitated in student learning. It explores 21st century opportunities and essential skills such as the preparation of multimedia presentations, digital activities, penetration of process, sustaining to full product and achievement, innovative leadership, team collaboration, and independent plans that can assist learners in understanding and employing an original process of innovation.
Why do GKE Educators have to learn to individualize and customize learning?
GKE Programs and Projects have a critical independent projects opportunity component that seeks to create and facilitate new, technology-assisted perspectives. Independent projects will be individually planned and implemented through Independent Student Lesson Planning, collaborative learning techniques, and intensive, teacher-mentor facilitation.

Projects designed may include but not be limited to possibilities such as distance learning projects, electronic publishing projects, interpretative multimedia projects, Internet site projects, as well as web-based learning projects.

Will the learners working with GKE Educators follow rote, one-size-fits-all learning patterns?
Learning will be based upon knowledge, analysis, thinking, and creation. Students will collaboratively learn, discuss, and explore theories in process, creativity, and learning. Students will research and present innovative models of creativity, and they will examine and discuss futurist theories.
Then, students will apply these concepts as they design, plan, and implement challenging, independent projects in the emerging technologies. There will be collaborative learning and explorations of software and hardware. Students will be guided by, but they also will share with the instructor in aspects of leadership that include opportunities for teaching, planning, and decision-making roles. Students will be asked to analyze, evaluate, and assist in the resolution of project issues and problems. There will be self-evaluation, peer evaluation, as well as teacher mentoring, critiquing, and evaluation.
Is there an established basis of research for the unique GKE Learning System and the training of the GKE Educators?
The GKE Learning System is unique in that it is cutting edge. It brings together established educational concepts and best practices, established industry models, educational methodologies utilized in a United States Gifted and Talented class and Honors curriculum, and the award-winning projects of a United States National Technology and Learning Teacher of the Year. Its strategies have award-winning proof-of-concept projects that have received national and international recognition.

In addition, the GKE programs and GKE training for educational integration with the emerging technologies and the GKE independent project focus are grounded in multiple intelligences theory and practice, committed to interactive challenges in technology-assisted learning, and focused upon in-depth achievement, valid choices and responsibilities interwoven with collaborative and independent explorations. The course is developed upon the Harvard researcher, Howard Gardner's assertion that "we need models that take seriously individual profiles of intelligence and seek to maximize the educational achievements of each person."
